New Zealand men’s cricket team head coach Gary Stead is expected to step down from his role in the limited-overs formats, according to international media reports.
The 53-year-old took over as head coach in 2018 and led New Zealand to great success, including appearances in the 2019 Cricket World Cup final, the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup final, and the 2023 ICC World Cup final. Under his leadership, New Zealand also claimed victory in the inaugural World Test Championship in 2021.
Stead's final assignment in the white-ball formats saw New Zealand clinch a 3-0 ODI series win and a 4-1 T20I series win against Pakistan.
Although he is set to step down from ODI and T20I duties, Gary Stead will continue as the head coach of the Test team. He is expected to guide New Zealand through the 2025–2027 ICC World Test Championship cycle.
