The Sri Lankan team won the Asian Rugby Championship of the first division held in Sri Lanka by defeating Kazakhstan.
It is special that Sri Lanka achieved such a victory after eleven years.
The winning Sri Lankan rugby team was donated $30,000 by Sri Lanka Cricket.
Tarinda Rathwatta was the vice-captain of the Sri Lankan team led by Suyoru Anthony, Sanath Matis was the head coach, Dushyant Lewke was the coach of the front row players and Nilfer Ibrahim was the coach of the back row players.
Sri Lanka, India, Kazakhstan and Qatar joined the four teams in the knockout tournament.
