Sri Lanka Cricket recently took steps to distribute a caliper to measure the skin fat density of players in local first-tier sports clubs and measuring instruments to measure the speed of bowlers in order to improve performance on the cricket field.

Manufactured in England and the United States with state-of-the-art technology, this performance-enhancing device, or skinfold caliper, and the speed measuring device are equipped with a digital display.
Accordingly, this equipment was distributed to 17 sports clubs representing the first-tier tournament as well as the 4 Centers of Excellence under the Sri Lanka Cricket.Through this caliper, trainers at sports clubs will be able to obtain an accurate assessment of the athletes' skinfold thickness as well as body fat percentage.
This caliper, a technological tool, helps to monitor the fitness progress of players and assess their body composition, thereby contributing to the competitive game of cricket that exists today.
In addition to that device, the ball speed measurement system will allow sports clubs to measure the speed of their fast bowlers and spinners during their club's training sessions.
The distribution of the equipment was held at a special ceremony held at the Sri Lanka Cricket Headquarters and was attended by Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa, Vice President of Sri Lanka Cricket, Ashley de Silva, CEO, Jerome Jayaratne, Director of Cricket,National Cricket Operations Chief Chinthaka Edirimanne and First-tier Sports Clubs Advisor and Coach Promodya Wickramasinghe participated.
CCC Colts, Chilaw Marians, BRC NCC Ragama, S. S. C, Moors, Negombo, Tamil Union, Baduraliya, Panadura, Bloomfield, Kurunegala Youth, Ace Capital, Nugegoda, Police and Moors were the sports clubs that received this equipment.
