The Sri Lanka women's wrestling team recently departed for Jordan to participate in the Asian Wrestling Championship. Representing Sri Lanka in this prestigious tournament are Nethmi Ahinsa Fernando and Nipuni Wasana, along with their coach Suranga Kumara, who also traveled with them.

The competition officially begins today (26th) in Jordan, with weigh-ins and registrations scheduled for Nethmi and Nipuni. Tomorrow (27th), Nethmi Ahinsa will compete in the 57kg women's weight category, while Nipuni Wasana will take part in the 50kg women's weight category. Both athletes are strong contenders, aiming to bring medals home for Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka men's wrestling team also left for Jordan last night (25th) to compete in the Asian Wrestling Championship. The men's team includes M.G. Chathuranga, C.D. Fernando, M.L. Wijesuriya, N.W. Dharmasena, and N.A. Fernando.

Sri Lanka’s wrestling teams are determined to make their mark on the international stage, with high hopes for medal victories in the tournament.
