A three-member election committee has been appointed to conduct the official election to restore Sri Lankan football, which is currently under an international ban.

The appointment of the election committee was made at the special general meeting held yesterday (14th) at the Colombo Foundation.

The committee consists of retired High Court Judge UL Majeed, retired High Court Judge Bandula Athapattu and retired General Upali Gunasekara.

Calling for nominations for the election was opened from yesterday evening and acceptance of nominations will be held on the 19th at 3.00 pm.

According to the new constitution of the Sri Lanka Football which was adopted on 22-09-2022, the election is to be held and its members have agreed to hold the election on September 29.

Nomination appeals will be accepted from 01st to 03rd September and consideration of appeals will be done on 04th September.

Accordingly, the final list of nominations submitted for the selection of 13 officers, including the chairman, will be announced on September 4.
