The Sri Lanka Senior Weightlifting Team left for India to participate in the 2023 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship.
The team also includes Commonwealth medalists Indika Dissanayake and Chinthana Geethal Vidanage. Apart from that, Kamal Egodawatta, Madhusanka Jayathilaka, D T Gurugama, Sanjana Vedarachchi and Achini Wickramasinghe are also included in the team that left for India.
At the last minute, the Ministry of Sports provided the necessary financial support to this team, so they had the opportunity to participate in this tournament.
