Two bronze medals for Sri Lanka on the first day

Sri Lanka's Nadeesha Dilhani Lekamge won the bronze medal in the women's javelin throw and Gayantika Abeyratne, won the bronze medal in the women's 1500m event at the 25th Asian Athletics Championships held in Thailand.

Nadeesha Dilhani Lekamge performed 60.93 meters in that event and it was a new Sri Lankan record.

Aruna Darshana, who participated in the first semi-final of the men's 400m event, finished second with a time of 45.7.9 seconds and qualified for the final. Although Rajitha Rajakaruna, who participated in the second semi-final of the 400 meters event, recorded a time of 46.12 seconds and won the 5th place to qualify for the finals.

Nadisha Ramanayake, who won the heats the women's 400 meters event, managed to qualify for the final. Nadisha Ramanayake's finishing time was 53.06 seconds.
